Kathryn Jasperson is a Seattle based painter and mosaic artist inspired by the outdoors and the joy that comes from movement. Mountain biking, surfing, and hiking often spark images and ideas faster than she can create them. Kathryn explores landscapes, the human form, skeletons, and the metaphysical world within us by working in acrylic, watercolor, and mosaic. Her work often incorporates repurposed objects and natural materials. Beyond skin, appearance, gender, or conventional ideas of beauty, skeletons appear frequently as a reminder we are all the same at our core.

Kathryn first fell in love with art as a child in Big Bear Lake, California, when her Nana, an oil painter, taught her to paint in third grade. She later learned how to create mosaics from artist Jeannie Antes. While her early work leaned toward creepy creatures and darker imagery, her practice has evolved toward capturing the joy, adrenaline and wonder she finds in the natural world. Ultimately, Kathryn’s art is an invitation to feel something, to experience the rush of physical life, the release of an emotion, or the beauty of a landscape. Her work would not exist without nature and the joy of moving through it.
